A message from Jess

The votes have been counted, and while we didn't clinch the seat of Deakin this time, my heart is brimming with gratitude and pride.

I am sincerely staggered at what has been accomplished.

From the outset, this campaign was never just about winning an election. It was about hope, the appetite for change, and the chance to ignite a movement—a movement grounded in community, integrity, and the unwavering belief that politics can and should be done differently.

This campaign may have had my face and name, but it was, above all else, a community movement. We've turned despair into possibility, apathy into action, and strangers into friends. We've shown that democracy isn't just about casting a vote—it's about engaging, listening, and building together.

So, while we didn't win the seat—this time, we've laid the foundation for a movement that will continue to grow, evolve, and inspire. We know that when a community comes together, anything is possible.

I want to take a moment to congratulate Matt Gregg on his election as the new Member for Deakin. And to Michael Sukkar, I thank him for his years of service. While we may not have always shared the same views, the role of a federal MP is a demanding one, and I acknowledge his commitment.

This is not the end of the journey, there is still so much more to be done. If you're interested in joining or finding out more about the community independent movement, I encourage you to contact Voices of Deakin.

Kindly,

Jess
